Our wine selection is a mixture of innovative varietal wines and engaging blends made right here on the farm.  We debuted seven different wines in 2006 and in 2007 we will add a flagship meritage-style reserve to our lineup.  Check back for details!

Our 2006 Pinot Gris is a luscious white wine, perfect for outside, summertime, or anytime enjoyment.  A slight amount of residual sugar makes this appealing to virtually all palates.  You might note hints of bright citrus and tropical fruit in this limited-release white wine.  Our award-winning 2005 vintage sold out rapidly, so be sure to come in soon after it’s February release to taste it before it’s gone!

Another white wine we offer is Galena Creek White.  This wine is made from the Vidal Blanc grape and is a refreshing alternative to the ubiquitous Chardonnay.  Mellow overtones of melon and apple characterize this crisp, aromatic white. A portion of this wine was fermented in French oak, adding complexity to the structure and flavor.

Chambourcin is a very pleasing, multifaceted red wine we make from the red French-hybrid grape of the same name.  Exhibiting great elements of ripe cherries and plums, this wine is quite accessible to those that don’t traditionally drink reds.

Galena Creek Red is a proprietary blend we created from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Chambourcin.  This dry red features bright summer berry flavors balanced with higher tannins than in our other reds.

West Wind Farm also offers two wines that are a little sweeter than our other offerings, while not being overly sweet.  Galena Creek Peach and Galena Creek Blackberry are made with Chardonnay and Merlot, respectively.  Each has about 4% residual sugar and is ideal for those that enjoy a wine that isn’t completely dry.  They’re brimming with their namesake fruit aroma and flavor and are suitable for sipping or for use as a dessert wine.

In case you were wondering, Galena Creek flows on the soutwestern part of West Wind Farm and is named for the ore that was mined nearby many years ago. This whole area was once called Galena, and there's even a Galena Presbyterian Church a short distance south on Highway 52 (Fort Chiswell Road).

Our Cabernet Sauvignon was released to acclaim in the early fall of 2006; winning the first gold medal in a competition for West Wind Farm.  It has a particularly velvety, smooth mouth-feel that beautifully showcases the engaging fruity elements in the wine.  It was well worth the wait!
